
Sam Spiers,
Managing Director of APG
Sam manages the wider APG business, investments and Livestock Grazing Limited. He took over the management of APG in 2016, following a career in banking and finance in New Zealand and Australia.
Raised in the Canterbury foothills, Sam grew up surrounded by sheep and angus cattle. He enjoys the great outdoors, good company and, most of all, spending time with his young family. Sam is driven by strong relationships, new opportunities and ensuring that the family business continues to thrive. Sam and Alice live in Wānaka with their three children.
Luke Thompson,
Chief Executive Officer of pastoral and horticulture operations
Since joining the business in 2018, Luke has overseen the management of APG’s farms, cherry orchard and livestock operations. Prior to APG, Luke worked in sales and management roles in New Zealand for Carters and Griffiths, and managed the field sales team for Danone in the United Kingdom. He holds a Commerce degree from the University of Waikato.
Luke brings strong leadership experience and enjoys supporting people to become the best version of themselves. Luke and Sara live in Wānaka with their three children. When he’s not working, Luke finds the most joy in supporting his three children in their many sporting pursuits.
