The cherries are all planted in the UFO system (upright fruiting offshoots).
The UFO system provides maximum sunlight to the fruit and trees, is easier and simpler to harvest, with higher production than the traditional style of cherry tree. APG cherries are supplied to offshore markets in December and January each year with the support of Central Pac, local cherry exporters based in Cromwell.
Recently, Lindis Crossing Station Cherries has entered into a joint venture with Golden Plains Orchard to further develop and expand the Lindis Crossing cherry orchard. We’re excited to see the results and the growth this partnership will bring.
The cherry orchard is managed by Jim and Patsy Blanche, who together have over 50 years’ experience in growing cherries.
They are fortunate to have been able to work together for most of their working life and are now thrilled to have created a fun and enthusiastic team at the Lindis Crossing orchard. Jim and Patsy enjoy spending time with family, especially as “Poppa” and “Paddy B” to their two delightful grandsons.
